# Insights

Each group's **Insights** page shows where its money went.

## Periods

This month, Last month, 3 months, This year, or All time, from the group's first
expense. The period is part of the URL, so a link to _last month_ stays last
month.

## What it shows

- **Spent together**: the group's total for the period, and how many expenses
  make it up.
- **Your share**: your part of that total, from the splits.
- **Over time**: a bar per day for a month, per week (starting Monday) for three
  months, per month for a year or all time. Days with nothing spent show as
  gaps, not skipped, so a quiet week looks quiet.
- **By category**: largest first, custom categories included.
- **By merchant**: the eight biggest, for expenses that have one.
- **Who paid**: what each member paid out.

Insights count expenses only. Payments recorded from **Settle up** move money
between members without anyone spending it, so they are left out.

Dates are calendar days in UTC.
