# Notifications

LocalAssistant sends push notifications to the phones, tablets and computers
each person turned them on for: **Account**, **Notifications**, **Turn on for
this device**. On an iPhone or iPad, add the app to the Home Screen first.

## The inbox

Every notification also lands in **Notifications** (the bell at the top of the
screen), push or not, and stays there for 30 days. The bell shows a dot on a
phone and a count on a computer while some are unread; opening the inbox marks
them read. Tap one to go where it points, tap a scene button to set it, or
remove them one by one or all at once.

## Tell me when

Your own alerts, sent to you alone: **Account**, **Notifications**, **Tell me
when**, **Add**, then pick a device and what to watch for, the same choices as a
routine's device trigger: turns on or off, opens or shuts, locks, starts
playing, is pressed, goes above or below a value. A washing machine whose plug
goes below 5 W is done; a freezer sensor going above -10 needs a look.

It fires when the device gets there, not again while it stays.

## From a routine

A routine's **Send a notification** step tells everyone, the admins or one
person, with a title and a message. It can offer up to two scenes as buttons on
the notification itself: "The front door is open" with **Lock up** sets that
scene from the lock screen, after checking you're still signed in on that
device. Buttons show on Android and desktop browsers; iPhones show the message
only.

## From integrations

Integrations notify too: a device that stops answering for an hour tells the
admins, and Frigate tells everyone about what it detects.
